Artillery shells come as a kit: a launch tube (the mortar) and a set of shells you load one at a time. Each shell has its own fuse. You drop it into the tube, light it, and step back. This gives you more control than a cake, because you pick the order and the pace. The APA 87-1 standard limits each consumer reloadable shell to 60 grams of total composition, and a kit may hold no more than 12 shells.
Shells work well as a steady thread through the middle of a show, or as a punctuation mark between cakes. They suit people who like a hands-on show and have a calm, sober person to run the tube.
Safety matters more here than almost anywhere else in the store. Set the tube on flat, firm ground, and brace it so it cannot tip. Load shells fuse up, the right way, and never put any part of your body over the tube. If a shell does not fire, wait, then soak it in water. Never try to relight it.
Some kits in this category are call for price. Check your city and county rules before you buy. Reserve online and pay at pickup at our store, 5159 I-30 in Caddo Mills (Exit 83). No shipping, local pickup only.

You place one shell in the launch tube, light its fuse, and move away. After it fires, you load the next one. Follow the directions on the kit exactly.
Prices on those items are not posted online. Call the store at (972) 977-5193 for current pricing.
Do not look into the tube or try to relight it. Wait, then soak the tube and shell in water before you handle them.
