Fireworks near Rowlett, TX

Rowlett bans fireworks in the city, but it also puts on its own Fourth of July show on Main Street. Here is the drive, the city rule with its code section, and what to check before you light anything outside town.

Rowlett bans fireworks. Section 26-143 of the city code makes it unlawful to possess, store, offer for sale, sell at retail, or use or explode any fireworks, except as the fireworks article allows. The main exception is a fire marshal permit for a supervised public display, which has to be applied for in writing at least 10 days ahead. Making fireworks in the city is barred separately, and the fire marshal can seize fireworks held in violation. The fire department's FAQ sums it up: it is illegal to sell, possess or discharge fireworks within city limits.

Where you can legally shoot
No spot inside Rowlett is legal for personal fireworks, and that includes the lakeshore and city parks. The general rule is private land outside all city limits and buffer zones, with the owner's permission, and only when the county has no drought order or burn ban. Rowlett is surrounded by other cities and the lake, so legal land is a drive away. Check the rules for the city and county where you end up.
The simplest option is Fireworks on Main, the city's free Fourth of July event at Pecan Grove Park on Main Street.
