Fireworks near Rockwall, TX
Rockwall sits on the east shore of Lake Ray Hubbard, and I-30 runs right through the south side of the city. That makes the drive to us one straight shot east, through Fate and Royse City and out into Hunt County.
Rockwall is strict about fireworks. Personal fireworks are not allowed in the city, and the city's fire guidance says the ban reaches 5,000 feet past the limits. So the question for most Rockwall families is not where to buy but where to shoot. This page covers both, plus the city's own Fourth of July show.

The City of Rockwall bans fireworks inside the city limits. The Rockwall Fire Prevention division's display guidelines state that it is unlawful to sell, possess, manufacture, store, handle or use fireworks within the city limits. The exceptions are permitted public displays and possession otherwise allowed by state law. The same guidance says possession and use are also prohibited for 5,000 feet outside the city limits, unless that land is inside another city's extraterritorial jurisdiction, and calls a violation a public nuisance. The city's July 4th event page also notes personal fireworks are not permitted within city limits. We could not confirm the exact section number in the Rockwall City Code (Chapter 18 covers fire prevention), so check the code or call the fire marshal if you need it.
Rockwall County sets drought orders and burn bans for unincorporated areas. See https://www.rockwallcountytexas.com/ and our page at /texas-fireworks-laws/rockwall/, plus /texas-fireworks-laws/ for state rules.
Where you can legally shoot
The general answer is private property well outside Rockwall: beyond the city limits, beyond the 5,000-foot buffer, and not inside another city that has its own ban. You need the owner's permission, and Rockwall County must not have a drought order or burn ban in effect. Rockwall County is small and filling in fast, so legal land is getting harder to find. Lake Ray Hubbard and city parks are not legal spots.
For a lot of families the better plan is the city show. Rockwall's Independence Day Celebration has ended with fireworks at dusk over Harry Myers Park on East Washington Street.
