Hunt County fireworks rules
Last verified: 2026-10-20. This isn't legal advice. Check your city and county rules. Never use fireworks where they are banned, and follow any county burn ban.
Hunt County is home base for Dynamite Fireworks Superstore, on I-30 at Exit 83 in Caddo Mills. The county seat is Greenville, and the courthouse is at 2507 Lee Street.
City rules come first. The City of Greenville says fireworks use, sales and storage are not allowed inside city limits unless permitted, and it posts a "No Fireworks Sale Zone" map. Questions go to the Greenville Fire Marshal's office at (903) 457-2945. If you live in Commerce, Caddo Mills, Royse City, Quinlan or another Hunt County town, check that city's code of ordinances or call its police non-emergency line. We have not verified every city's rule, so do not assume.
If you live in unincorporated Hunt County, the county's Homeland Security page posts the current burn ban status. On October 20, 2026 it read "No Burn Ban: 10/05/2026." Status can change at any commissioners court meeting, so check close to the day you plan to celebrate. The Texas A&M Forest Service burn ban map is a second check. Environmental Enforcement can be reached at (903) 408-4277, and the courthouse main line is (903) 408-4100.
The statewide seasons, June 24 to July 4 and December 20 to January 1, apply here like everywhere else. The extra seasons need a Hunt County Commissioners Court order. Court minutes show the court has passed standing resolutions that continue until revoked: Texas Independence Day, San Jacinto Day and Memorial Day on February 14, 2023 (Minute 18,005), Diwali on October 8, 2024 (Minute 19,108), and Juneteenth on February 24, 2026 (Minute 19,950). Each is "subject to Fire Marshal bans and other State Laws." We did not find an order for Lunar New Year. Before each season, we confirm the order is still in effect and post the dates on our site.
In a drought, the court can still restrict skyrockets with sticks and missiles with fins in the unincorporated area under Local Government Code 352.051. Agendas and minutes are posted on the county clerk's site.
