A 200 gram cake works like any other cake. You light one fuse and a group of tubes fires in sequence. The difference is size class. Under the APA 87-1 standard used to classify consumer fireworks, a multiple-tube device is normally limited to 200 grams of total pyrotechnic composition. Only cakes built with tubes attached to a base and spaced apart can go up to 500 grams. So a 200 gram cake carries less composition than a 500 gram cake, and it usually costs less too.
That makes 200 gram cakes a good fit for the start of a show, for filling gaps between bigger pieces, and for smaller spaces where you still want aerial effects. They are also a smart way to stretch a budget. A few of them in a row can keep the sky busy while you get the next big cake ready.
Light each cake on a flat, hard surface, one at a time, and move back right away. Read the label for each item before the show.
Check your city and county rules first, since most cities do not allow fireworks inside city limits. Reserve online and pay at pickup at our store, 5159 I-30 in Caddo Mills (Exit 83). No shipping, local pickup only.

The number is the size class for the pyrotechnic composition inside. Consumer cakes are normally limited to 200 grams, and only cakes built with spaced tubes on a base can carry up to 500 grams. See our 200g vs 500g guide for details.
They are a common choice for smaller spaces, but you still need a clear area and the spacing shown on the label. Where fireworks are legal, always follow the item's directions.
